End of the month: 10 tracks that deserve your attention

For this edition of our monthly highlights, we present you with 10 releases that may, or may not have gone under your radar. Some are new, some are old, but either way, we feel like these tracks are worth another share.
Lizzitsky - ‘HD Is Off Anxiety Attack’
‘United Ravers Against Fascism’ is a compilation of 22 tracks featuring the likes of Casual Gabberz, HDMIRROR, and Powell, to mention a few. Released in a time when many of us are longing to yet again be sweating inches away from other bodies to pulsating, repetitive beats, the cassette is showcasing some of the strongest dance music tracks to come out of 2020 so far.
The highlight is ‘HD Is Off Anxiety Attack’ by London-based, South American/Siberian artist, Lizzitsky. The track channels early 90s jungle breakbeats over glitchy, blurred synths and fragmented breakdowns with warping, echoing vocal samples and distorted patches of musique concrète. It’s probably the most challenging track to dance to on the compilation.
Lil Asaf - Labash
Lil Asaf is the new moniker of Amman-based, Palestinian MC, and producer Bashar Suleiman. Labash of Lil Asaf’s debut EP ‘Lal Bazam’ combines blistering rapping over syncopated beats. In its last third, the track drifts into ambiance with haunting, reverb-drenched vocals.
Alice Coltrane - ‘Krishna Krishna’
In the 1980s, Alice Coltrane released a selection of spiritual songs on private press cassettes only available for purchase at her own ashram she established in California. ‘Krishna Krishna’ from the tape ’Turiya Sings’ of this era is a devotional Hindu bhajan. The jazz icon and swamini created this little ambient gem using only her voice, an organ, and a synthesizer.
Benjamin Lew - Profondeurs Des Eaux Des Laques
Back in the hedonistic 80s the Belgian producer Benjamin Lew worked part-time as a bartender in a tropical cocktail bar. The bar was named Le Papaya and was known as one of the artistic hotspots in Brussels.
After his night shift ended he would continue his work in the studio where he would finish the recordings with musicians he met at the bar. Together they created mysterious and strange pieces of music that now have been reissued and compiled by the Belgian label, Stroom. The first track off the compilation, Profondeurs Des Eaux Des Laques is a joyful summer track consisting of saxophone and clarinets as well as multiple layers of weird and addictive sounds. If you happen to work at a bar this album could easily be the perfect cocktail.
Iceboy Violet - Drown to Float
I Got U (Lil Durk) from the Manchester-based producer, Iceboy Violet sounds like some sort of long hazy passage. It’s like been caught in a dream where someone is whispering you a strange bedtime story. It’s moody, uplifting, and well, extremely druggy.
Liss - Another Window
Judging by their recent activity it seems like Liss has gained some sort of newborn strength. The group is constantly banging out new tunes, doing covers, and has even built a recording studio. I don’t know if the pandemic has anything to do with this, but their creative flow is definitely peaking at the moment and thankfully, the group isn't just putting out fillers for the sake of being present – it seems like they are constantly searching for new ways to express themselves – and Another Window is no exception. A mellow chord progression and Søren Holm's voice smoothly introduces the track, before it evolves into some sort of chilled out ballad. It's catchy as always and the unexpected string section at the end adds an extremely nice detail that makes us even more excited from their forthcoming EP, which will be out later this month.
Jeuru - King Malik
‘King Malik’ is an empowering exhibition of the creativity and talent of Jeuru; the American born and now Copenhagen-residing artist, who we are extremely lucky to have here in our city. Accompanied by a stunning visual representation put together by Blonde Media, the production level across all fields on this release is top‑shelf.
Erosion Flow - Enhance
The slow-paced club tune ‘Enhance’ is the second release on the new Copenhagen outfit Caress, launched by regular Knife-contributor and producer, Erosion Flow.
Dervisis - zeϊ_بك
Off-kilter house music with heavy Eastern Mediterranean vibes from London-producer, Dervisis, which will fit your summer holiday playlist perfectly.
Necklace - Like You
The romantic and melancholic ‘Like You’ is the first single taken off of the highly anticipated debut album from Danish singer-songwriter, Necklace, accompanied here by an intimate and glowing music video created by Kristian Kirk and Magnus Bach in collaboration with Mercedes Benz Prxjects.
