End of the month: 7 Tracks that deserve your attention
Posted
Selected by: Adam Emil Schierbeck, Henrik Koefod & Jonathan Holst Bruus
For the march edition of EOTM, we present you with seven new releases which may, or may not have gone under your radar. Either way, we definitely feel like these tracks are worth another share.
High Graid - Millions (DJ JM Remix)
Taken from Copenhagen-based DJ and producer High Graid's recent EP for London-label Trax Couture, the hard-hitting, urban club sounds of 'Millions' gets reworked into a more technoid, dancefloor filler by Lithuanian producer, DJ JM known for his work with Goon Club Allstars and Nervous Horizon.
JRMMT - llllllll
On JRMMT's recent debut on Anyines, the Copenhagen-based composer and producer explore the world between organic forms and digital eternity, by combining the best of both his classical composition training and experimental electronics.
Coco Bryce - Irian Jaya
Night On Earth, originally released in 2019, was already one of the best newer jungle albums out there - and now it’s finally getting a repress. Coco Bryce, the dutchman behind the masterpiece, has, with a handful of releases on both his own imprint, MYOR, and other labels, already proved himself to be one of the best in the business, when it comes to revisiting all of the junglist breaks. But this LP is by far something else. One of the standout tunes of the album is Irian Jaya, starting out eerily and atmospheric before opening up and rolling away on echoing synth lines and chopped breaks.
Sir Rah - Dulcet Tear
The new release by Cutcross Recordings, run by the Sicaria Sound crew, is a showcase of all that’s happening in the bass scene right now. With high-paced drum’n’bass tunes, dark and grimey bass bits and very clear nods to some of the earliest dubstep of the mid-2000’s, this is a powerful palette of a various-artists release. Standout tune is B1, or X1 as stated on the record, the Sir Rah grimey drum’n’bass tune Dulcet Tear with breaks on heavy workout and grime basslines to make even Wiley a bit jealous.
Jhelisa - Friendly Pressure (From Midnight Mix)
Two of the absolute biggest weapons of the entire UKG-scene is getting the repress they deserve on London’s Mint Condition. The two Sunship remixes, entitled respectively "From Midnight Mix" and "Into The Sunshine Mix", of Jhelisa’s Friendly Pressure showcase both beautiful 2-step “for the ladies” and subby 4x4 for the clubs. If you didn’t know, now you do - these two mixes are absolutely top-shelf material for everyone liking anything out of the entire 2-step and UK Garage scene.
Scandinavian Star & oqbqbo - Airdrops
Scandinavian Star & oqbqbo teams up on their first collaborative release. Recorded from their home in Copenhagen, Airdrops is a piece of longing and experimental pop music that'll make your isolation feel a bit better.
Schultz & Forever - Idea of You
Taken from Schultz & Forever's recent album, Declaration of Love, Idea of You is a simple and honest pop-song that looks into the terrible and confusing feeling of unrequited love. The theme runs through the whole album, but Idea of You stands out with its catchy and dreamy chorus as well as Schultz's hazy vocals. Out now on The Big Oil Recording Company .
